Snowy Elk

On our recent trip up to Estes, we saw a herd of elk right outside the park. It was snowing pretty good, but I snapped this picture (thanks Dad for bringing your camera!)

Merry Christmas Eve!

I wish everyone a great Christmas. These are just a few of the elk we saw on our last recent trip up to Estes Park. It certainly will be a nice white Christmas here! Yeah for snow and the beauty of it all.

Christmas Concert

Last weekend a few of my girlfriends and I went to see a Christmas concert! I love Christmas music! It was a fun night -- we went out to dinner and then enjoyed a little Christmas cheer!

Merry Christmas!

Well I can't believe how fast Christmas is coming. Although Rob and I have not yet finished our Christmas shopping for each other, we have finished shopping for Eve :) We bought her some toys and put them in her stocking. Without even us pointing it out, Eve found her stocking and loves to patiently stay staring at her stocking....

It's like that dog from the movie UP......"Point!"

"Is anyone going to help me get this stocking down, or do I have to do it myself?" asks Eve

ColdSpell

For a while, it was REALLY, REALLY cold. I woke up one morning and it was -13 degrees! It made us bundle up everywhere we went. We even bundled Eve up! I'm not sure she loved the hat though, but it was cute!

Guide Dogs Christmas Party

Tis the season to dress up your dog (or kid) in all sorts of funny attire!

This weekend we went to the Guide Dog Christmas Party. The hostess, my good friend Stacie, had a bunch of funny outfits for the dogs to try on. Eve was very good as we continued to try on different costumes!

"Look, I'm an elf!"

Lucky Day

Today was my lucky day.... I had signed up for a mailing list for the restaurant Famous Dave's BBQ. As a reward for signing up they gave me a coupon in my email, saying that it would be valid for either a free desert or a feast, or something in between, depending on the prize code in the eamil. I figured it was a desert, so I wasn't that excited. But it expired tomorrow, so I called them up and asked what the prize code meant.... and they said:

"You've won the All American Feast!!!"

I was shocked. It was worth $64 and is food for about 5-6 people! And all for free!!

So, since Rob and I are only 2 people, we invited our friends over to share the winnings! Yeah for free food!

Wow, lots of food! And we still have leftovers!

Spoiling the puppies!

Last night Rob and I went to hang out with our friends Alex and Stacie. It was a lot of fun, but secretly Stacie and I had a misison - - to make a dog bed for Eve. Since Eve had destroyed her last one, she has been sleeping on some blankets on the floor, but they don't quite compare to a soft, padded dog bed. So, I bought some fleece last weekend and some stuffing, and Stacie helped me make a dog bed for me (Ok, so Stacie did all the sowing, while I watched... yeah for talented friends!) We got home that night, and Eve was SO happy to lie in her new bed! (and SO sleepy from playing for a few hours with Anthony!)

And we the humans also had a good time hanging out, eating some more delicious bbq, and watching a movie.

Eve loves her new bed -- last night she slept like a rock, and since Rob and I were up kind of late last night, we didn't put her to bed until 1am. And then she slept on her new bed until 10AM!!!! Oh my goodness! I was expecting her up at 7:15 with an empty stomach as usual, but when I woke up I couldn't believe the clock. What a good dog! (and a marvelous dog bed!)

Happy Birthday to Rob!

Rob turned the big 26 yesterday! Happy Birthday Rob!

For his birthday I got him a few new video games -- we've been having fun over the past weekend playing Halo Wars and Fallout3 for the Xbox. Today a new game should come in the mail (Call of Duty)-- I'll have to go check now!

Last weekend Rob's family came up and we all went out to Famous Dave's BBQ, a new restaurant that just opened up in town. We tried the 'All American Feast', which had some ribs, brisket, chicken, coleslaw, potato salad, cornbread, beans, and all your typical BBQ food. It was delicious! We'll have to go back!

Best Buds

Either way you look at them, Eve and Anthony (another Guide Dog puppy) are best buds. They also had a lot of fun playing in the snow!

Snow Storm

Last week we had the biggest snow storm that I've seen since I lived here in this city (last winter was really mild).

Eve had a blast! The snow was up to her shoulders, and she loved jumping through it and plowing her way through our backyard. She also got to play with our neighbor dog, Brewster, and tired herself out. Rob and I were REALLY hoping for a snow day, but alas, we still had to go to work. Oh well, at least the snow was beatuiful, and Eve sure had fun!

Fall Fest

Well even though we already had our first snow, today we ventured back into fall...

Today we went to a pumpkin party with the Guide Dog group. It was a big celebration, and we picked up a few nice looking pumpkins there for free, so that was fun. We had fun posing for pictures with Eve and enjoying a nice fall day.

Fall Fest Part 2

A few more pictures from the fall fest...

A picture of a few of the other guide dogs... not everyone is ready, but at least Eve and I are!

Look at that big smile on Eve!!!! (if you double click it will bring it up bigger)
And what would a fall party be without a hayride! (+6 dogs in the back!)

Eve's Bad Day

On Monday I thought Eve might be a little sick, so I decided to leave her at home for the day. I made sure she had a nice place to lay in the kitchen -- her dog bed covered with an afhgan just in case she really was feeling bad. And of course I put a bone in there for her to chew on.

This is what I found when I came home during lunch....

Oh well, at least it was just the dog bed. The refrigerator, cabinets, and floor all seemed to survive. Just when I thought I could trust her....

Eve's First Snow

Can you believe it? Snow already, and it is only mid-October. It seems like the little snow last night was equivalent of one of the snow storms typical of November and December.

This is Eve's first real snow... she seems to love it! She runs and runs and runs! I think she thinks the snow is burying her rope toy, and hence she tries to play keep away with the snow. Silly dog!

Raspberries from the Garden

I've been trying to play around with photography more and more. I like the way this shot came out because there are so many colors of raspberries... makes me hungry just looking at them all.

Grace Hopper Celebration For Women In Computing

This past week I was lucky enough to go to the Grace Hopper Conference of Women in Computing. It was awesome to meet with 1600 other women computer scientists. I did a lot of networking, socializing, learning, and having fun. It was very motivating and encouraging too!

(It was in Tucson, AZ, hence the cactusus!)

The hotel where the conference was at had a lazy river tube ride on site! A great spot for networking!

Eve and the Firetruck

The fun didn't stop for Eve at the Rockies Game. Nope, she got more fun on Sunday, when we took her to a social outing at the firestation. She got to meet a fireman, who she was scared of at first. It is one of the few things Eve is scared of.... but as soon as the fireman gave her a piece of dog food, she wanted to play with him. Silly Eve!

All the Guide Dog puppies in our club
Eve in the firetruck... wheee!!!
