Feeling better

Last week was a rough one for our family--- Rob was sick with H1N1, and hence had a temperature all week and was sure that every night he was 'dying'. He tried going to the doctor, but they siad since he wasn't an 'at-risk' person, no medicine for him. But after a fever for a week, they gave him some antibiotics which finally seemd to break the fever .... alas, he has pulled through and is ready to start living life again! (besides the residual cough which will probably last for a while) Hooray! I am glad to have my husband back! And, the miracle is that I did not get sick myself!

Eve also had a rough week. I had to take Eve to the emergency vet on Friday night because I got home from work and BOTH her eyes were swollen. One was about the size of a ping pong ball --- I thought it was going to explode! It was scary! I rushed her to the vet, and they gave her some steriods and concentrated benadryl. Then that wasn't enough so 20 minutes later they gave her a second dose. Finally the swelling started to go away. They think it was probably a spider bite since the swelling was so severe. But by the next morning she was doing much better (still a little swollen, but much better). I had to give her benadryl for 2 more days, but now she is back to normal.

So, I think we've had our share of sickness and pet emergency room visits for 2010. Lets hope so!

Eve and the Clone

Last night one of the dogs in our club needed someone to watch her for a few hours. And since Eve hadn't seen any other dogs for a long time, I decided that I could handle two dogs for the evening. We puppy-sat another dog named Mulan, but the really fun part was that Mulan looks VERY similar to Eve. We had fun chilling with Rob while he's sick. I love puppies so much!

Can you tell who is who? Which one is Eve?

Awww, if you hold their bone then they will pay attention to you!

Consumer Electronic Show or Celebrity Electronic Show?

So I was really suprised, but there were quite a few celebrities at the CES (I guess different ones are there every year). This year I personally only saw Lady Gaga and the guy below from Parks and Recreation. He was on a skit for Intel's keynote presentation. They were pretending they were in the future, but in reality they were just in front of a green screen on the side of the theater. I also saw Shannon Miller ( a gold medal US gymnast).

I guess Dr. Dre was there, as was Drew Carey, and some MLB and NBA players too.

Lady Gaga (her hat at least!) I didn't even know who it was at first, but I knew from all the pictures it must be someone important/famous!

New Technology

So I think that blogging while on vacation is tough... Stacie seems to be good at writing more than one sentence, but I was always blogging when I had about few minutes to spare. But it was fun to post a few pictures while I was out and about!

Rob and I made it home safe and sound late last night. Since I didn't really go into details, I'll go into some now! Rob and I went to Vegas for the main reason of going to the Consumer Electronic Show (CES 2010). It is held every year in Vegas, and you have to work for the electronics industry to get in. So, we figured we might as well go while we still work for HP. The conference lasted 4 days (Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun) with over 110,000 attendees. There were 2700 exhibits, and some exhibits were huge!!! Almost all the major companies were there...Microsoft, Intel, Panasonic, Canon, Sony, etc, and then there were so many smaller companies too....

Rob and I walked around for probably 30 hours looking at new technology. There were several themes we saw over and over again... 3D TVs, ebook readers, and wireless power. Here are some pictures of some cool stuff....

This is an automatic embroidery machine. It can do 6 threads at once and would be perfect to start your own business! Only $10,000. But really really cool. (It is embroidering a boot right now in the picture). The other cool 'crafty' thing I saw was a laser controller engraver.... only $8000 but it could engrave bottles, boxes, you name it! Totally cool!

NBC was showing off their technology for broadcasting the Olympics... They did some broadcasting there...

This guy was wearing a bunch of mini screens (electronic name tags I think)

Samsung's booth had a lot of TVs. It was a neat visual effect.

The show

Rob and I really wanted to see a show while we were in Vegas but we didn't want to to pay over 200 for tickets. So originally we signed up for this timeshare presentation to get us discounted tickets. We were sure we could say no, but it turned out we did not even have to go because we got 2 for 1 tickets by having a free players club card at the MGM. So we went last night to KA with our friends Huong and Aaron who are also here in Vegas. The show was really neat! I enjoyed it a lot.

Double decker time

My favorite part of the conference so far.... We got to ride a free double decker bus back to our hotel!!! I know I'm silly!

We had fun walking around the strip at night, checking out the casinos and trying not to lose money :)

Las Vegas CES

We made it... We're looking at new technology from

everywhere and waiting in line to see 3d TVs.

Eve plays dress-up

Eve is in heat this month, so she doesn't get to go out much. And, since she is such a social butterfly, I decided to let her have some fun at home.... we decided to play dress up! Eve enjoyed pretending she was in New Orleans and pretending we allowed her to go to a fancy New Years party! Silly Eve!

Nuggets Game

As a final celebration before Rob and I headed back to work, we went to the Nuggets game with my parents! Thanks Mom and Dad for inviting us! We had a great time, even though the Nuggets lost by 1 point!!!! BOO!!

A highlight of the game was when Rocky (the mascot) stood at half court and made a shot backwards -- it went straight through the hoop -- nothing but NET! It was awesome! And we had great seats as well.

Those guys can jump....!

Snowy Ski Day

Rob and I went on a winter ski trip to Vail this week with our friend Alex and Stacie. We had a lot of fun --- it was snowing for most of the time, making beautiful winter scenery. And, with hand warmers and toe warmers, I didn't even get cold!
