Eve and the Firetruck

The fun didn't stop for Eve at the Rockies Game. Nope, she got more fun on Sunday, when we took her to a social outing at the firestation. She got to meet a fireman, who she was scared of at first. It is one of the few things Eve is scared of.... but as soon as the fireman gave her a piece of dog food, she wanted to play with him. Silly Eve!

The Rockies Game

This weekend was very busy! After helping some friends move for a good portion of the day on Saturday, we headed down to the Rockies game to meet some other friends. And of course, we couldn't leave Eve all by herself, so she got to come as well. We didn't remember how close the seats were until we tried to fit Eve in front of us. Thankfully, the people in front of us were dog lovers, and they didn't mind when Eve leaned her head on the guys shoulder or coughed in the girls face. Oops! Eve was really good, and sometimes she even seemed to be enjoying the game.We met Eve's foster parents there, Alex and Stacie, who kindly took Eve for a few innings where she could have a little more room. Funny how we all ended up at Coors field on the same night!

Thank goodness for friends who can help with the puppy!

Eve intently watches the game....

Yes, I think Eve is actually resting her head on that guy's shoulder... hmmm

Go Rockies!!!

Just a busy week

This week is the annual review time at our work. So Mr. H and I have been filling out many many review forms for others and summarizing our own years accomplishments.

In the mean time, I've been trying to scrapbook some of our Alaska trip and puppy pictures. It is really fun for me, and although I'm not the type of person to spend 30 minutes per page, it still takes a long time. I've finished scrapbooking Juneau, and Ketchikan, but I still have a lot to do! Maybe this weekend!

Tonight Rob and I went to the gym and watched "The Office". It was pretty funny, because it was about promotions and how unfair they are (or maybe fair, depending on your perspective), which seems relevant when you are writing up your annual performance review, hoping to make yourself sound better than your competition.... hmmmm

Ketchikan, AK

Our first port of call on our trip was Ketchikan. Ketchikan is famous for the totem poles, made by the Alaska natives. There are actually quite a few natives that still live off the land in the forest (although I'm not sure if they are around Ketchikan). We went and saw Totem Bight State Park, and then we went to the main street in town and walked along Creek Street, appropriately named due to the creek. At this time of year the salmon were spawning and the creek was full! There was one section of rapids the salmon had to jump up... I was amazed they made it! I snapped a shot of one jumping.

Whale of a Tale

Juneau was by far my favorite port city we visited. Perhaps that is because we saw a bear and whales!!! Tonight I made this collage of some of the whales we saw -- it is a sequence of one whale tail.

More of our friend the bear

Here are some more picture of the bear we saw! More pictures coming soon!

Return from Alaska

Rob and I just got back from a great trip to Alaska!!! The whole trip was amazing. We went on a cruise starting from Vancouver, British Colombia, Canada, and ended in Anchorage, Alaska. It was on a boat called the Sapphire Princess.

One of the highlights of our trip was this bear we saw at Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau. As you watch, you can see we were nicely watching the bear, until it started heading towards us :) It was fun, but it sure made my heart pound!

The last few nights the sunset has been really pretty due to the smoke from the California fires. I snapped a few photos, trying to capture the redness without getting the rest of the picture too dark. I still have a LOT to learn about photography, but some of these are ok..
